The Ruthven Public Library was awarded full funding for both grants projects it applied for this fall from the Palo Alto County Gaming Development Corporation. The awards were announced at the PACGDC's annual grant awards banquet, which had to be postponed for a night due to inclement weather.

The first of these was a $1,418.44 award to purchase book award sets chosen by the Iowa Association of School Librarians. These include the Bridge to Reading Award, the Goldfinch Award, the Iowa Children's Choice Award, the Iowa Teen Award, and the Iowa High School Book Award. The scope of the books chosen for the awards range from books written to be read aloud for very young children to those written for young adults.

The second grant award was for $4,471.81 in crucial technology updates. These updates include both new hardware and library management software.

The grants will be implemented over the next 6-8 months. Please contact the library director for more information about the grant projects.
