Ruthven Public Library Receives Diabetes Books through Grant

One of the new books now at the Ruthven Public Library!

The Ruthven Public Library is the proud recipient of 15 new books on the subject of diabetes.  The books came as part of the Diabetes Education and Support Grant administered by the North Iowa Community Action Organization.

Diabetes is affecting the lives of more and more people everywhere, and one of the best ways to combat this is with education.  The books chosen focus on living with diabetes and most are cookbooks that give recipes to help improve the quality of life for those living with the disease.

The fine folks at the Palo Alto County Health System, including Kathy Merrill and Candy Bisenius are to thank for the books.  They made the decision that books would receive more exposure and use at the public library in Emmetsburg than at the hospital.  This made an such an impact on the granting organization that they wanted to get the books into all the libraries.  Thank you so much, ladies!
